Harnessing the Power of the Sun for a Greener Tomorrow
Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket continues to strengthen its commitment to clean energy and climate responsibility through the ongoing expansion of its rooftop solar energy system. This initiative is a key pillar of the resort’s long-term sustainability strategy, aimed at reducing carbon emissions while increasing the use of renewable energy sources.
The solar panel installation was successfully completed in two phases—Phase 1 in January 2024 and Phase 2 in September 2024. In 2024, the system generated a total of 139,726.50 kWh of renewable electricity, with an average monthly production of 11,643.88 kWh, resulting in a reduction of approximately 69,849.28 kgCO₂e in greenhouse gas emissions
Building on this success, solar energy performance further improved in 2025, generating a total of 160,863.20 kWh, with an increased monthly average of 13,405.27 kWh. This enhancement contributed to an estimated 80,415.51 kgCO₂e reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for the year, demonstrating a clear year-on-year improvement in both energy efficiency and environmental impact
Through continuous investment in renewable energy, Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket reaffirms its commitment to responsible operations, climate action, and a more sustainable future for the hospitality industry.

We all travel for different reasons and many of us would agree that one of the best things about travel is having new and unique experiences. Because people, culture, history, wildlife and scenery play such important roles in our travel experiences, protecting and supporting these things should be at the heart of every tourism and travel organisation, and every traveller.
