Building Stronger Communities Through Meaningful Action
Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket firmly believes that sustainable tourism can only be achieved when growth goes hand in hand with the well-being of local communities. For this reason, the resort places strong emphasis on active community engagement across social, environmental, cultural, and public health dimensions, with the aim of creating shared value and long-lasting positive impact for the people and places around us.
Over the years, the resort has consistently supported a wide range of community initiatives, including beach clean-up activities, mangrove restoration, tree planting, youth development programs, animal welfare support, and public health assistance. These efforts reflect our commitment to protecting natural resources while enhancing the quality of life within the local community alongside our business operations.
One of the initiatives carried out on an ongoing basis is the donation of unused clothing to the Soi Dog Foundation, which has been implemented since 2023 and continued through 2024. This initiative supports the care and rehabilitation of stray and abused animals in the area. In 2025, the resort plans to expand the impact of this program by inviting our guests to participate in the donation process, encouraging shared responsibility and compassion within the wider community.
The resort also places great importance on supporting youth and education. Each year, Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket actively participates in Thailand’s National Children’s Day, providing food, beverages, and educational scholarships to students from local schools, including Ban Kalim School, Ban Sai Nam Yen School, and the Phuket Special Education School. These initiatives aim to promote equal access to education and support the long-term development of young people in the community.
From an environmental perspective, the resort works closely with local communities to organize beach clean-ups, mangrove rehabilitation activities, and tree planting projects. These initiatives contribute to the preservation of Phuket’s coastal ecosystems while fostering environmental awareness and engagement among community members and guests alike.
Public health support remains another key area of focus. In 2024, Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket donated THB 2,000,000 to Vachira Phuket Hospital to support the construction of a radiotherapy treatment center. Building on this commitment, in 2025 the resort further extended its support through a donation toward the construction of an operating room at Chalong Hospital, helping to strengthen healthcare capacity for the local population.
Throughout 2025, the resort continues to expand its community engagement efforts across social, cultural, and environmental dimensions. These include donating educational supplies to Phuket Sunshine Village Foundation, Koh Sirey, supporting the Kalim–Patong Surfing Contest to promote community-based tourism and the local economy, contributing to a sea turtle conservation project focused on rehabilitation, research, breeding, and release back into the natural environment, and supporting the Sheetducation Project, which transforms used bed linens into school uniforms. Through this initiative, 300 school uniforms were donated to schools on Koh Sirey.
In addition, the resort provided food and essential supplies to communities affected by flooding in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, and offered financial support to the Vegetarian Festival at Jeng Ong Shrine, located near Vachira Phuket Hospital, to help preserve local traditions and cultural heritage.
Kalima Resort & Spa, Phuket remains committed to operating responsibly and fostering strong, long-term relationships with local communities. We believe that true sustainability lies in growing together—guests, employees, communities, and the environment—in a balanced and meaningful way.
